The pinkempower bracelet was designed by Sheryl Ellinwood, artist, owner of ellinwood studios and a breast cancer survivor herself. After coming face-to-face with having to make difficult decisions regarding treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy and mastectomy, she learned the value of doing extensive research in order to avoid getting the wrong treatment. In questioning why, with no family history, she may have gotten breast cancer she discovered proven ways to actually prevent or lower your risk of getting breast cancer. Besides putting much of this information on the pinkempower.com website, she has also published a “guidebook”, Empowered: A Woman-to-Woman Guide to Preventing & Surviving Breast Cancer, which will show women how to do their own research and direct them to critical topics and resources to research.
